Common problems with SubZero Refrigerators

Dust and debris buildup on the condenser coils prevents proper heat dissipation. Refrigerator runs but doesn’t cool effectively; may feel warm to the touch. Clean the condenser coils using a vacuum or coil brush (recommended every 6-12 months).
A leak in the sealed system reduces the amount of refrigerant available for cooling. Gradual loss of cooling performance in both the refrigerator and freezer. Requires professional diagnosis and repair (e.g., sealing the leak and recharging refrigerant).
The fan motor, which circulates cold air from the evaporator coils, may fail. Freezer may remain cold, but refrigerator compartment doesn’t cool properly; unusual noises. Inspect and replace the evaporator fan motor if needed.
The compressor, responsible for circulating refrigerant, may fail or overheat.
Refrigerator isn’t cooling; may hear a clicking noise or no sound from the compressor. Replace the compressor (requires a licensed technician).
The start relay helps the compressor start running; if it fails, the compressor won’t work. Clicking noise from the back of the refrigerator, no cooling. Replace the start relay or capacitor.

Subzero Troubleshooting and Repair

Warm air may be entering due to loose or damaged seals. Inspect the gaskets for cracks, tears, or dirt. Clean the gaskets with warm soapy water and a cloth. Replace them if they’re damaged.
Dust and debris buildup on the condenser coils can cause overheating. Locate the coils (usually behind a grille at the top or bottom). Turn off the unit and clean the coils with a vacuum or coil brush. Perform this maintenance every 6-12 months.
If the fan isn’t working, cold air won’t circulate properly. Open the freezer door and listen for the fan. If it’s silent, the fan motor may need replacement. Check for obstructions around the fan blades.
If DIY troubleshooting doesn’t resolve the issue, seek professional repair.
